Brilliant and Annoying, Together

Wow. This is a tough one, people. This movie had, possibly, some of the best, most vividly realized scenes ever seen in a movie! I am amazed at the attention to detail concerning the 'atmosphere of the scene' within the different time periods. Now, this movie is an ADD persons dream; by that I mean that it tells 5 or 6 different stories, switching from one to another, throughout the duration of the film. It comes off a a tad nuts, with all the switching between stories, me thinks. I would have enjoyed if they stayed a few minutes longer, in one story, before switching to the next. Just when it gets interesting, it switches. Kind of frustrating.

Back to visuals: Wonderful. Especially the work done to realize the futuristic scenes. Such interesting tones, atmospheres and aura was created. The costumes/architecture/audio all added to this, but not in an overdone way, instead, you just get the feeling that 'this is reality' -- which is a sign that it is well done, in my opinion.

Cons: (1) Some of my favorite characters get killed half-way in. And those are the ones I was most interested in seeing more of. lol. (2) The big one: The droning theme of "deja vu" and past lives, and whole notion that 'we live several times' was so annoying, I really hated this overtone. I suppose for someone who believes in multiple lives (reincarnation), that this may be a more enjoyable overtone. For me, it ruined the movie.

Fight scenes: Never thought this would be a draw, but the futuristic scene had some of the most incredible Matrix-Style fighting of any movie I've ever seen. I don't give praise easily, and I really enjoyed these sequences. They were gripping, tense, exciting, and gave that ever-coveted 'in awe' feeling. Cool.
