Chasing Mavericks(2012)- User Reviews

I really enjoyed seeing the movie. Yes, some of it was predictable-its a movie about a surfer after all. Yes, part of the movie was "played out" (in terms of time) but I don't think anyone would have been happy seeing a 60 minute movie either.

For the most part, the cast felt "real"-especially Gerard Butler. He really got into the role. I felt as if I was watching a real surfing teacher. The acting wasn't "over-the-top" by anyone either.

There were maybe one or two small scenes which seemed "unrealistic" (and they were very short-I won't mention them here here) but for the most part, the movie did a great job in telling the story.

The cinematography was excellent. Simple, yet effective. One got a very good feel for Santa Cruz, Pillar Point/Mavericks, and about the dangers of "big wave" surfing.

The movie wasn't anything fancy nor melodramatic. IMHO it wasn't supposed to be anyway. Regardless, it was fun to watch.

This is one movie I would certainly recommend!
