Absolutely the best film ever for me.

Having lived only a stone's throw from there in Montara when my babies were young, and with me starving to get back to the water, this movie was a lifesaver.

Though, yes....it has already taken lives there. Those waves eat a person up.

It was hard to watch at times. Not a movie for the squeamish. I had my hands over my eyes plenty of times or yelling "Go, go, go!" or "Paddle!!!"

Butler and Weston are AWESOME.

Shue, and the girl who played Kim, the surfers....all were awesome actors as well. Great job!

The shark? Scared the living daylights out of me. And I am a singer and have done laps for years holding my breath the length of the pool so this film absolutely blew my gasket just watching them hold their breath that long. It's just impossible.

You have to want to LIVE really badly to commit to survival like that. I couldn't do it ....even if my life depended on it.

Great movie!

(However................be prepared for an ending that is not Pollyanna.)

And I can see why the word "Oscar" was mentioned!
