Cayo(2005)

Kike, Ivan and Julia are three close friends that grew up in Culebra together. Ivan and Julia are a couple and Kike is secretly in love with Julia. But, the trio is separated when Ivan is sent to Vietnam. During this time, Julia becomes closer with Kike. When Ivan returns home, he marries Julia and they move to New York. Much later, Ivan is diagnosed with terminal cancer and he returns to Culebra with Julia. With her help, he begins to take part in Culebra's social needs. He finds himself venturing in a small boat to Cayo, a very small island close to Culebra and it is there that he finds peace of mind--the island has a healing effect on him. When federal authorities try to keep Ivan away from Cayo, they find themselves confronted with a great deal of community resistence in support of Ivan.
