Capitalism: A Love Story(2009)- User Reviews

Too unbalanced to be really useful

Michael Moore makes good points about the evils of capitalism, but he makes no suggestions about a better system, except for illustrating a couple of worker's co-operatives. To have priests sounding off about how capitalism is the root of all evil, is patent nonsense. The fact remains that the alternative system of communism has been a proven failure. For all its failings, capitalism is the only economic system that encourages innovation and can develop people's aspirations, we wouldn't have laptop computers, mobile phones or the internet without it.

What Moore should have beem saying is that capitalism does work in countries where it is properly regulated, most of Europe, Canada, Australia & Japan are proof of this. They have labour protection laws that prevent companies from sacking employees with 25 years of service with just a month's salary as compensation, and they have safety nets which protect the more vulnerable. It is this which America needs, not an abolition of capitalism.
