Brave(2012)- User Reviews

It's no secret that Pixar hasn't been doing so well recently. While Cars 2 was OK, it wasn't good by the standard that Pixar usually goes by. So did they redeem themselves with Brave? Yes and no.

The basic plot is that a Scottish Princess doesn't want to get married and longs for a life of adventure. Sounds a lot like those old Disney films right? Not a bad story for a kids' film but it's very generic. I kinda expect more from the studio that brought me great films like Up, Ratatouille, and the Toy Story films among others.

But my griping stops there. The animation (as usual with Pixar) was superb, particularly Princess Merida's flowing red hair.

Also the humor delivers and the voice cast was very entertaining. Two of my favorite comedians, Billy Conelly as Merida's father and Craig Ferguson as a Scottish Lord, lend their voices, as well as the great Emma Thompson, who plays the role of Merida's stern mother. Having been raised by Scottish parents, I found the accents and Scottish grammar just great to listen to.

In short, you will enjoy this film, and so will your kids. You just might be dissapointed that this isn't the usual Pixar gold you're used to.
