The Bourne Legacy(2012)- User Reviews

Pretty solid

Really...some people are giving this 1 and 2 stars?

The acting throughout is solid - you need to wrap your head around the fact that this is a different character/actor and stop mourning the loss of Matt Damon's puppy eyes and Julia Stiles' (Nicky's) sexy detachment/previous history(?) with Bourne. None of that personal charisma here, and I would say that's what you're reacting to rather than any flaws in the movie. It's the same thing Renner's character is trying to deal with...he clearly wants to take Oscar Isaac (#3) out for a beer to philosophize, but it's not their lot...he is so close to breaking loose that it pains you and leaves you frustrated. You want the action to slow down just to see what happens. Does he ever lose his cool during the movie? Or does he simply sit on the edge of a bed and remind Weisz that he's "not just a science project" and has a "long way to fall"? I imagine you've seen Renner in the Hurt Locker and Ghost Protocol? If the long pans in Canada(?) at the start of the movie suggest the largeness of the world he's just starting to envision...think about what he's possible of when his character fully matures in the sequel. On screen chemistry with Weisz at this point would just be...cheezy...and that's not this movie.

What else?

To everybody complaining about the drugs, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Bourne ask someone why he gets headaches at some point?

I thought the realism of the Manila locale (and that factory) just fantastic. The head of security is a perfect cast. The super assassin could probably have been omitted or just re-done. Something as simple as the wardrobe probably. He got his...simply but effectively...and even the original Terminator would have had trouble getting up from that one.

Not a bad flick at all...looking forward to the sequel.
