We in political and socio-economic circles like to portray life in a fairy-tale, Horatio Algers kind of way....This movie reminded me of many things I went through and struggles I seen in other families...broken families with children struggling to grow up, struggling to advance through the wreckage; tragedies with the young sister committing suicide and the older girl being taken advantage of sexually by her teacher; a mom struggling to do what is right after her divorce and a non-supporting "ex" (non-supporting with money and otherwise); and in the end a 18 year old girl riding off with her dad to an uncertain future...Wow, I thought it was a powerful presentation of all these things..
