Black Swan(2010)- User Reviews

I enjoy just about any movie (action,romance,drama, science fiction etc) as long as the story is well written. I absolutely love Natalie Portman and had high expecations knowing that she had recieved an Oscar award for her role in this movie. What a disappointment and I'll say this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. From the start it's pretty clear that Nina and her mother are disfunctional and Nina has some sort of mental problem. I kept waiting for the story to unfold in some kind of order that helped me make sense of the plot and the characters (like in Beautiful Mind) however that never happened. There are so many things going on in this movie with no explaination. Its just one sick scene after another and none of it makes any sense. Once you figure out she is psychotic its hard to tell which scenes are real and which are her imagination. There is never any explaination for why her mother treats her like a 10 year old. And why in the world is she even going down this path of distruction? Natalie obviously won the Oscar because she stepped out of her comfort zone and successfully played such an usual character, but the story itself was awful.
