Sin Noticias de Dios, as the film was originally entitled, is a social commentary on the world, and is very Spanish in the way it views the world. The world is Madrid. Every madrileno (person from Madrid) knows that. Heaven might be the Paris of an old movie, showing cleaner, more black and white days. Happy, with a sense of wistfulness. Hell is certainly Texas. Latin, the language that binds everyone together, the language of THE Church, is still the only language that Heaven and Hell truly communicate on.
This isn't a perfect movie, but it's intriguing in its presentation, and has quirky views on the supernatural. The boxer isn't important. Everything else is.
