Not the book, but still worth it!

Ok, so I know that most of the reviews you will read will complain that this movie is nothing like it's book counterpart. This is true. A lot changed for the movie adaption. I have read the books and fell in love with them instantly. But that being said, this is still a great movie! All the actors were phenomenal. The relationship between Englert's Lena and Ehrenreich's Ethan was played very well and with a lot of emotion. Ethan and Lena will actually yell at each other and tell the other just what's up. Unlike the comparable Bella and Edward from Twilight where they just seem to talk in hushed tones and brood/pout a lot. The banter back and forth between Ethan and Lena really reminds the audience that even though this potentially horrible event is on the horizon, they are still just teenagers. Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lincoln / Sarafine was great. She plays up the piety of Mrs. Lincoln perfectly, then turns on a dime into Sarafine with all the menacing evil and sweet malice that the book version had.

Jeremy Irons, for me, was the vision in my head as to how Macon looked. The interaction between Macon and Ethan in Ravenwood when Macon makes Ethan tell his future life story was hysterical.

This movie is no Twilight. It isn't trying to play itself up as an "Epic" (and I use that term loosely) love story. It seems more relatable to the audience (Casters aside). Long story short, is it an amazing movie? No. But it is still really good! If you have read the book, you should still give it a try. Yes, a lot of the book is missing, but that doesn’t mean that this isn't just as good in its own right.
