"This is why Superman works alone."
Although not a great movie, Batman and Robin does have some fun things about it.
I enjoyed it a lot more than any of the other Batman sequels which is largerly due to the actors doing great jobs with roles that are largerly two-dimensional.
As Mr. Freeze/Victor Fries (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sets out to freeze Gotham City, Batman/Bruce Wayne (George Clooney), and Robin/Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell) struggle to keep their relationship together, a task which goes from difficult to impossible when red-headed temptress/villainess Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), formerly known as Dr. Pamela Isley, comes into their lives and casts them both under her spell.
Meanwhile, young Barbara Wilson (Alicia Silverstone), has decided to visit Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Gough) who's her uncle, and may or may not have an agenda concerning her future.
I have great respect for the cast and the Director.
That said, the movie didn't really work.
The plot is simply too poposterous -as is the dialogue- and no attempts were made to make these things believable.
Despite all this however, if I was ever forced to watch a Batman sequel, I would chose this one any day of the week over the others.
Something about it is worth watching, even if it's ultimately ineffective.
