Balls of Fury(2007)- User Reviews

I wanted to watch a television movie last Sunday, so as I turned on the local cable channel, I chanced upon the movie 'Balls of Fury'. I didn't actually understand what it was until I realized that it was on ping pong.

The main plot is about Raymond Daytona, a child prodigy at table tennis who eventually lost to a German in the '88 Seoul Games, having to enter the underworld of Ping Pong in which losers will be killed. Now, I can't believe that the sport of Ping Pong, a simple game of hitting a ball back with elbows bent, had to be turned into a brutal game of win or die. Even though it was an interesting concept, I could honestly say I wouldn't watch this if not for its presentation and that I was bored anyway.

The pace of the movie is good, although the only setback was the romance. It was too fast, too ridiculous and too unrealistic. Which eventually pulled the story grade down too. The visuals are nothing special, especially the destruction of the restaurant scene which could have been better, I think. Acting is good.

All in all, Balls of Fury is a nice film depending on opinions. I'd give it a B+, so I'm being a bit lenien here.
