This movie made me fight back tears throughout, with agonizing moments of sadness, resignation and hopelessness. Usually these characteristics in a movie are the kiss of death, but if the right audience sees this movie, which are older adults and younger adults/children that have suffered through the painful process of Alzheimers, it should be Oscar-worth, especially in the performances of the two protagonists. Julie Christie is mesmerizingly beautiful, even at her age, and gives a perfect performance. The husband who is left behind to deal with the painful aftermath of the disease is equally as brilliant. Both deserve an Oscar, but sadly will miss out to some commercially-viable, mainstream pic. Too bad.
