Awake(2007)- User Reviews

Every movie has pros and cons. Like most movies, this one has its shortcomings, but I believe it is a good movie overall. I don't think 'Awake' was created to win any Oscars, but as a purely entertaining, original movie. And it is original--I haven't seen any other movie like this one. I'm not a critic, so I don't want to pan Jessica Alba's acting abilities, but I believe that she was acceptable as a villain. I'm not going to comment on Hayden Christensen's acting, because I know that I'd probably defend the guy due to my teenage crush on him. You can't deny that the guy is gorgeous though. Anyways, for those people who are critisizing the film on it's medical inaccuracies; this is a hollywood movie, not a surgical documentary, people. Reality tends to be strectched in movies, in case some people has been living under a rock for the last decade. I noticed a review where someone panned the movie for not doing any medical research because an ordinary person wouldn't be able to enter during an operation--that is PART of the storyline, genius. *SPOLIER WARNING* Sam is not an ordinary person, she works at the hospital and she is conspiring to kill Clay, along with the other surgeons (except for the anesthesiologist) *END OF SPOILER* Jesus. Overall, Awake definitely kept me awake with its several plot twists. I know the storyline has little character development, but I think this is a fresh attempt for Joby Harold. This is his first film as a director and he shows potential. :)
