Great movie

Great movie, hated by American critics, I wonder why ;)?
Touches right on the nerve of America's obsession for "civilizing the barbarians", in the case Native Brazilians. The "civilizers" are religious fundamentalists, i.e. American missionaries, supberbly played by Aidan Quinn and Canadian John Litgow. Perfect direction of Argentine director Hector Babenco emphasizes the stunning scenes of nature in it's wildest and brings a great cast of Brazilian actors, including Stenio Garcia (Boronai) and Nelson Xavier (Father Xantes), together with a very good American cast.
Tom Berenger performs well as a Native American in search of his lost soul, and so does Aidan Quinn as a missionary whose beliefs are put in check by the actions of his wife (Kathy Battes, excellent) and the fate of his son Billy (Niilo Kivirinta).
The scenes with the boy Billy are amusing, sad and really insightful.
Unfortunatelly the movie is hard to find nowadays, since it has been banned by American reviewers and became a box office failure.
