Argo(2012)- User Reviews

This is a very good movie. I enjoyed watching it and recommend it to friends. This movie is basically what you expect it to be; a drama about getting 6 hostages out of Iran. There is very little "action" which makes it very realistic. I guess I would make Affleck Best Director for this very reason...he did not try to "oversell" the intrigue or the action. I believe he kept the movie true to history. I can imagine the pressures to make the movie more about guns and chases that it really was...but Affleck resisted that and made a very good movie. Some reviewers are politicizing the movie way more than it should be. The story has a political backdrop but the politics are not central to the movie. The movie is about a CIA agent who comes up with a plan to save the hostages and his struggles to see the plan to fruition and completion.
