I had been anticipating this movie for a while. I saw the trailers and was impressed esp. being that I like sci-fi horrors like Alien. The idea of a gov't conspiracy sending astronauts to the moon to encounter aliens sounded really cool!!
I liked the visuals of the movie--the 1970s type grainy filming was neat, and I was impressed with the special effects of the spacecraft (interiors looked really cool and accurate with the old style gauges and switches), the space shots, the whole moon landing cinematography with the hand held camera action, the lunar rover, the Russian LK lander, etc. Even though NASA did not consult on this movie, I thought the film makers did a good job.
Acting was decent and convincing, showing the build up of terror as the astronauts realized that there was something very wrong, and that they were doomed.
What let me down was that I expected, and was hoping for, more alien action. Turns out the aliens were little parasitic crab rock creatures. Not really very exciting lol. I wanted to see slimey alien beings running around causing mayhem and horror. I remember a scene where the astronaut saw an alien footprint--where was the alien??
But then this was supposed to be an actual footage type film trying to convince people it was real. I think people would freak out if they thought that there actually were slimey alien beings on the moon--the moon is not that far away and the aliens could come to earth!!
