I thought this movie was really dumb. I love the costumes, the scenery, and liked some of the dialogue, but real emotion was lacking, not acting. She sits in bed …more»6 of 8 people found this review helpful-

I had read about one quarter of the book before seeing the movie. The book is quite good, but the movie is a crashing bore. The main theme of the book - pointing out the massive hypocrisy of society allowing affairs for men but not for women - is almost …more»4 of 8 people found this review helpful-

Definitely a must see!! It was a very good adaptation of a complex novel. The movie follows the book and the main characters are well developed. It does not contain some of the side stories, but that is expected as a complete adaptation would probably …more»4 of 6 people found this review helpful-

We are in our 60s and have seen a lot of films - this was one of the worst, most disappointing ever - we finally gave up and walked out halfway thru - I don't know what the director was trying to accomplish but it was …more»5 of 5 people found this review helpful-

This movie is based on a great novel, but it is not well made at all. It was so boring and not worth watching at all. With all the good actors in this movie, I expected a far better one.
The story was also twisted. I have read the book before and have …more»1 of 3 people found this review helpful
