I like mix of the stage effect: All of the sets, photography, costumes (jewelry) actors are beautiful! …more»0 of 1 people found this review helpful-

I read the book again this summer and my imagination was much better than the movie. The sets all looked cheap. The only good thing about the movie was the period costumes.
I took a friend who had not read the book and she was confused through out …more»2 of 3 people found this review helpful-

I know to play role of Anna Karenina was a dream of many actresses… I saw all productions of “Anna Karenina”.
Beginning of the movie, the theatrical part of the start, was very unusual for me. I will expect something …more»2 of 3 people found this review helpful-

If you went to watch this movie with preconceived ideas of how the Tolstoy book should portrayed, you would be disappointed.
I hadn't read the book or watched much of the old black and white version and went with an open mind. I was a little confused …more»1 of 4 people found this review helpful-

I never read Anna Karenina and went to the theatre excited to learn the classic story. However, the movie is void of any character development or coherent plot. The film fails to capture the conflict or tension that must have existed in the original …more»2 of 2 people found this review helpful-

But if you are looking for inner depth of the theme, the development of characters, and transition of the emotion or the acting, there is none. It is impossible to bring this master piece of writing onto the screen in two hours with satisfaction unless …more»1 of 1 people found this review helpful-

This movie is so stunning, amazing, intriguing and compelling. It does present the story in an abstract way, with awesome music and dancing in a sub reality way. Keira Knightly is SPELL BOUNDINGLY beautiful and gave an Oscar worthy performance. Loved …more»3 of 5 people found this review helpful
