I love Kiera Knightley. But this movie was a little lame to me.
It started out like you were watching a play. They would change the backgrounds. Then portray her on a train, and show a little model train running. It was ludicrous. At one scene they …more»

If you have all they key characters, but communicate none of the essence of a novel, give it another name and say it was "loosely inspired by" the novel. Don't pretend this was Anna Karenina. This movie does not reflect the powerful themes …more»

I went to this film expecting to like it and was roundly disappointed.

Tom Stoppard, the screenwriter, did a disservice to Leo Tolstoy by making this a silly, self-indulgent theater piece. If Stoppard wants to keep writing plays, then he should stay in New York and live on Broadway and stay away from movies.
