Christian Bale is a delight in this film. Simply his best role. He plays the sick, funny, grotesque, egodriven, madman with total finesse. From the clever opening credits, i knew that i was going to be put through something rather odd.
The only beef i have with it is, is that the film ended abruptly. You were just left with an odd feeling. But i guess there is nothing wrong with that.
The story follows a banking executive's path to complete meaningless madness. And it's bloody brilliant. The viewer does not know what to expect...at first its a charming young man enjoying a cigar with his mates, and then he is sticking an axe in one of their heads. Pure genius.
If you want to see something mad, don't look beyond this title. I recommend it completely.
