Yeah Humbug!

Finally something that the extreme right-wing and left-wing of this country might actually enjoy together. The right will surely love this outrageous take on Michael Moore, ****.org and anti-war activists, as nearly all the jokes and situations are aimed at them. But come on left wingers, this is darned funny stuff, so lighten up and laugh along even though you disagree with the politics of the filmmakers. This is purely camp satire in the vein of "Airplane," not nearly as funny, but the jokes come a mile a minute--like Vaudville--so never have to wait long to get over a stinker (and there are those too). The JFK and Washington impersonators do a bang-up job, and Kelsey Grammar is a hoot as Patton (or should I say of George C. Scott playing Patton). He adds the slap to slapsick....The "if the South won the Civil War" sequence was amongst my favorites, as was the multiple "Muhammed Husseins" in the opening. As a mostly liberal, JFK admirer (I lived through his presidency), I had no trouble recognizing some of the truths embedded in this movie and laughing along with them. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what comedy can do for you."
