    This is stage director Sam Mendes's first feature film, and it is a very good one. It helps that the screenplay by Alan Ball is satirical and witty, and the cast, led by a magnificent Kevin Spacey and a cold Annette Bening, is uniformly excellent.

    Somehow, everyone in the country loved this movie but me. The movie and all of its characters had no redeeming qualities at all. It's too bad they all didn't get handled the same way in the end.
