Amelia(2009)- User Reviews

It's impossible to review this as a movie, for it is in truth a multi-hour historical impersonation. Richard Gere does a great job of impersonating....Richard Gere, while Hillary Swank does an earnest and passable job with Amelia Earhardt. The problem is, you can easily see just how hard she is trying, and that destroys the illusion. Worse, as she works so hard to affect her appearance and accent she forgets to act the part. The rest of this story is merely an average, stereotypical biography that touches on the most famous events, throws in a few love story tidbits, reveals long hidden truths, and finally casts the real person as a caricaturized media heroine. This is the quintissential version of what is meant by "average." Amelia deserved better.
