Albert Nobbs(2012)- User Reviews

A work of Art

star55

This is one of those movies of subtle expressions and emotions. It is amazing how Glenn Close captures the way we communicate in real life, by watching each others body language and subtle expressions. How the emotions we want to keep secret leek out. This is one of those movies i will watch again and again.
I too am surprised at the lack of publicity for this movie. This is the best Movie I have seen in years.

This was an awesome film, it deserved an Oscar Nomination in the Best Film category.
I saw one film that I can say was a good as this one this year, Tomboy a french film. A coincidence they are both about lesbians... i guess it was the year of lesbians at the cinema for me :)

One of the best movies I've seen this year. Glenn Close performance was brilliant and shocking. I look forward to buying the DVD so I can watch it over and over again. I understand that personal preference can change between all of us, but this movie was brilliant. I laughed and cried, and fell in love with Albert Nobbs.

To Luz...you just don't get it...what it would be like to be trapped so deeply in a lie that it becomes who you are. Instead you go all self-righteous. Feel the tragedy of a time when women had no rights whatsoever other than those which might be bestowed by a male/by marriage. [Such is still the plight of many women in the world today.] Too bad the film left you feeling so unforgiving.

Wow, Luz-who lied to you? Obviously this hits a personal note with you. Maybe you should have chosen something else to review (not that this was a review).

OMG! If the movie half way lives up to this review, It will be the best one I've seen in the last 5 years. I can't wait till the theater opens today. I'm on my way popcorn bucket in hand.

Why did you waste everyone's time with this bashing? It's about the movie not your personal beliefs!

the bashing of american women in the beginning of your interview was unnecessary to say the least and as a whole, your review said nothing about he movie or the quality of it

Luz - Based on your review and how you infuse personal beliefs into what should be an OBJECTIVE review, I'm sure I will absolutely love it!! Following your logic, "Silence of the Lambs" is a terrible film because I hate serial killers...or because I hate southern accents, "Gone with the Wind" sucks...or because I'm afraid of sharks..."Jaws" is terrible. I'm so pleased to report that the lint in my dryer is more credible than your film review.

Often these "art house" movies are minimally released until after the Oscar Nominations are announced to increase box office totals. I do think it can back-fire in buzz for Oscar, etc. because the majority of people have not seen the film. Pretty much just industry people who receive the film know the film.

This distribution timing disappoints me as the December holidays are perfect times to see these potential Oscar nomination roles and films and they are typically unavailable. Same for the January doldrums of films. This weekend marks the first weekend this film will be at a theater near me.

To Anthony B-if you were so educated you would know "all right" is the correct spelling. NOT alright

A gem! Women of bygone eras were so brave and resourceful. The limitations they had to endure and how they overcame obstacles is remarkable as evidenced by this film. Women have progressed but still have a long way to go.

I'm sorry I somehow accidentally hit the thumbs-down button when I meant to hit thumbs up. Your review was helpful and appreciated. My apologies.

Luz, I thought this was to review the film, not trash the subject matter...hence the term...review?

I think you mean "unconscionable." Learn to spell, and deal with your issues.

Luz, i for one am glad that you have values about being truthful. this is a movie, AKA makebelieve. But all of have lied or been lied to at one time or another and know the anguish for everyone involved.
