All alone in Omaha

star44

Way down inside,Schmidt is hurting. He's a recent widower and now his only daughter is getting married in Denver. He's feeling conflicted.
He drives in a motor home to attend and to try to talk his head strong daughter out of the ceremony.
He thinks the family she's marrying into is loony and all wrong for her.
Along the way he reminisces about his life, meets quirky people and buys some exquisite and expensive art collectables that he knows his wife would have liked. Then disappointment sets in his daughter goes thru with her plans. Then after the wedding,he quickly departs for Omaha, wanting to be by himself again, but a letter atop of his mail heap touches and tugs at Schmidt's heart strings.
It is a letter with a drawing from a little child he sponsors in a third world country recovering from an illness. Schmidt cries. And one gets the feeling that he will be visiting that little child there, soon.
Jack gives a perfect character performance in the title role which just might be his best since "A few good men".
And was that really K.B. soaking in the hot tub--au naturelle???
