I haven't seen the movie yet... I just watched the trailer and I want to see it!
I wished there were more Iranian (world movies) in the US. Maybe some of my American friends would see that people are the same no matter where they come from...
They want to better their lives, find love, enjoy romance, raise a family and have freedom from the government telling them what to do and freedom to worship as they feel just like Americans!!!
    CONGRATS IRAN!!!

Yes, people are the same, only the attitude differs and that's the seperation boundary.

"Then Again Another Honorary Award for Iranian Potential Tallent"
Thanks to Asghar Farhadi who made Iran's name in the most imporatant cinematic event catagory and thanks to his crew who were in favor of an art work. mostly thanks to Leila Hatami and her amazing perform which was the reason I afford to watch this feature.
Let's remember: This is not the end, it's only the beginning. So, let's all say tgether: "Long Live Iran"

@Elmar.a real shameful comment. A 4-year-old kid understand more than you.you've better search more about Persian people then give a comment. And you know what makes me hate humanity? people like you who write reviews without information cause the movie was completely about problems in Iran not religion.

it seems you haven't even thought for one minute about what you saw. the course of events in the story are completely logical and NOT random. i recommend you to watch it again and follow the logical course of events. there's nothing said or done in the movie without a reasonable ground.
As for the theme, again insisting on ur ignorance, the movie has got multiple themes in different layers. The most obvious one is the theme of Separation in different levels:
    separation of a couple
separation of the people of a country ( Simin wanting to immigrate, the husband wanting to stay and face the difficulties)
separation of strongly religious people and people who aren't that religious.
    .....
it is also symbolic (or as the director prefers, examples of types of people) in many ways:
Grandfather: old Iran, not wanting its children leave the country( when Simin wants to leave the house, grandfather grasps her hand and doesn't let her go)
Raziye: religious figure, trying to take care of the old man but is involved in a conflict, ties his hands, leaving him alone

and many more points which gets hours to explain

@ Elmar.... as one of "those" people, I kindly ask you to please please not to bother giving us chances after chances... we don't need them.... we didn't ask for them!
Also, no one forced you to watch the whole movie... why did you torture yourself and then trashed a movie you did not understand and trashed a whole nation based on what you were not able to comprehend?
One more thing, get your facts straight... neither this movie nor kite runner are from Arab countries... the former is Persian (or Iranian) and the latter is from Afghanistan...
Lastly, work on your English (and specially spelling)... it's just very unattractive when one of "those" people such as I can spell/write better! ;)
