There have been several films made from Dickens' classic. This was easily the best. Of course, the story is timeless. The casting was perfect, especially Alistair Sim in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Nobody, not even the great George C. Scott, could pull this role off as well as he did. Finally, this film was a visual marvel. Roughly 99% of the images in this film stay with you well after it's over. There is one image that I still can't erase from my mind. In one scene, the Ghost of Christmas Present pulls back his robe, and reveals a boy and a girl, whom he calls Ignorance and Want. That is a very powerful scene. I can't imagine the Christmas Season without watching this movie at least once.
