(500) Days of Summer(2009)- User Reviews

Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a great job being "that guy"- an everyman who's been waiting to meet someone special for a long time. Zooey Deschanel is a great choice for "the one". Pretty, funny, just different enough from everybody else to make a person think she was made just for you. It's a story about heartbreak and examines one wallows in the memories of the relationship to figure out what happened and then eventually comes to accept it. I definitely felt I was relating to JGL's character, Tom. Unlike other romantic comedies, it doesn't just gloss over the nuances of heartbreak. It breaks from the formulaic, which is why it seems a lot more real than 99% of the romantic comedies out there. It only breaks character in the part where he runs into Minka Kelly. (Yeah like that's gonna happen.) A very good ro-com that men may relate to more than women, though both should enjoy it.
