2001: A Space Odyssey was released in 1968, and till this day, I still find it hard to believe. Maybe because of the visual effects, or the cinematography, or the acting, or maybe because of it's brilliance. It's also hard to believe that Stanley Kubrick directed this movie, but he did a great job.
From it's powerful opener to the extraodrinary jump cut to the Stargate Sequence, this movie is great. The visual effects is also the hightlight of this movie.
The ending is very confusing, but it's very good that the abrupt ending gives time to talk about it, to give our own interpretation. The other great thing about the movie is the silence. Not that much dialogue but the images on screen help us to move along with the storyline. It's like an extraordinary silent film. The film gives us a message, and it gives it to us just with images.
