Filmmaker Neasa Ni Chianain follows her idol, a celebrated gay Irish poet, on one of his annual trips to Nepal; a country the poet calls his 'spiritual home'. Here he finds the inspiration for many of his poems (which he composes in Gaelic). The director and her camera (in fly-on-the-wall style) join the Irishman on a trip to Kathmandu, where he is awaited by his 'adopted, spiritual son'. The poet, it turns out, has many young male friends in Kathmandu. For each of the past ten years, he has spent his winters there and is well known as a benefactor: he pays for schoolbooks, bicycles and even houses. In front of the camera, the Nepalese speak favorably of this rather strange, but very generous westerner. The poet basks in all the attention and talks frankly about love, friendship and the innocence of the Nepalese boys he knows. But all is not what it seems, as soon thereafter, first a hotel manager, and then some Nepalese youths come forward to tell a different tale, and the picture of the kind benefactor falls apart. Unable to believe the allegations about the poet she idolized, the filmmaker is forced to enter the action and confront him.
