The true story of one mother's tireless struggle to fulfill her dream to give her severly disabled twins some semblance of a normal childhood. For recent immigrants Mary and Gerardo Somoza, making ends meet while raising their children in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City was a challenge, but when Mary gave birth to twin girls afflicted with Celebral Palsy, it became a struggle fo survival. In her detemination to get her girls the help they need, and to which they are entitled by law, Mary exposes a system clogged by indifference and insensitivity. The normally simple process of getting both twins into public school turns into a titanic struggle over basic human rights that eventually involves the President of the United States and reveals the power a determined individual can still wield despite the enormity of forces arrayed against her.
