While New York's CBGB's might have at one time been considered the heart of the punk-rock universe, Portland Oregon's X-Ray Café was the West Coast's main stage for the indie-rock movement of the early 1990s. This is the story of the venue that was more than a place to catch the latest sounds emanating out of the Great Northwest; it was a cultural phenomenon that put Portland on the map as a center for cutting-edge music. Bonus material includes a soundtrack featuring some of the bands that were mainstays on the scene, such as The New Bad Things and Hazel.
