Beautiful Women of China (2006) Poster
Blockbuster: Buy or Rent Online
Regarded by many as China's most beautiful actresses, Gong Li, Xia Tu, and Tao Hong appear here in three touching dramas.

JU DOU: An erotic tale of forbidden love as an embittered and impotent factory owner's battered bride and his overworked nephew secretly maintain a relationship until it seems murder is the only way to be together freely. Ultimately, JU DOU addresses the problems of China's feudal society in the 1920s. Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and other major filmmakers spoke out against Chinese officials who attempted to censor the film and keep it out of theaters.

ENDLESS WAY: Forced into an arranged marriage with a young woman he doesn't love, Ah Ming must quickly say goodbye to the woman of his true desire. Ming soon learns that desperate times call for desperate measures, with his entire family depending on his paycheck to bring them food and shelter. ENDLESS WAY explores one youth's attempts to reconcile familial obligations with his hopes and dreams.

LIFE SHOW: Based on a novel by Chi Li, this film tells the inspiring story of Lai Shuang, a restaurant owner in Shanghai, who must overcome hardship and make great sacrifices for the good of her family. Though Li has never had any children of her own, she knows the responsibilities that mothers have to face, having had to practically raise her nephew and brother. On top of this, Li feels it is her sole responsibility to get back the house her family recently lost and to keep her brother from drugs and a life on the street.
