If the savior landed in El Lay today, would they still line up to get saved? We'll find out when Jesus, in buzz cut and blue jeans, comes back to Earth. But this savior isn't even out to save others. He is bemused at best by his messianic call and now waits to find out what the job will be. He falls in love with a hooker (just like The First Time) and laughs a little hysterically when betrayed (by his lawyer, a guy named Jude). He's a messiah with ineffable patience and everyone tries to make sense of him. Raising the dead in the barrio brings only heartfelt gratitude. But standing before a gilded statue that cries real blood gets him into trouble with local high priests, then whisked away by the Pope's goon squad to languish in the bowels of the Vatican.
