Katherine "Kat" Damon was left in Reno by a mother who loved her and promised to send for her once she found something better in life. That was years ago, and Kat is a woman now. Raised by a surrogate family of drag queens, the only thing Kat has left of her mother is an old photo and a lullaby. Still a dreamer (and perhaps realizing that she has outgrown Reno), Kat sets out for California on the wings of fate and ends up in the quiet and peculiar coastal town of Princeton. The local matriarch, Tanna Hildegard, immediately senses something familiar about Kat and offers her a job. It doesn't take long for other townspeople to see something special in Kat, including local musician Parker Smith. Soon, Kat finds that it is not just the highway that led her to Princeton, but her past.
