Four lower-class Mexican women gather by chance one morning at a local bakery to buy their daily bread. But overnight, the baker has decided to raise the price of bread without giving any notice. When the ladies find out, they begin to argue with the baker, and one of the women ends up killing him. Together, the women drag his lifeless body into the back and close up the shop. Then they sit around and start eating all of the different breads and cakes. While they eat, we begin to discover a little bit about each of their very particular lives and dreams, never really knowing what is real and what is fantasy.
