Greek writer/director Ersi Danou makes her feature-film debut with the achingly lovely romantic drama A SEA APART. Eleni (Tamilla Kulieva) is a Greek immigrant whose picture-perfect life as a wife and mother in the tony Los Angeles suburbs masks her deeply felt unhappiness. Eleni's dissatisfaction reaches an apex with the sudden arrival of her childhood sweetheart, Aris (Akis Sakellariou), who sparks both a longing to return to her Aegean hometown and a mournful meditation on the limits of the American Dream.
