When asked, Shahrukh Khan's orphaned street kid always gives his name as Ram Jaane--"God knows." "RJ" grows up to be a tough criminal, despite the best efforts of crusading do-gooder Murli (Vivek Mushran) to reform him by bringing him into his charitable homeless shelter. The tensions between the two men are increased exponentially when RJ falls for Murli's loving girlfriend, Bela (Juhi Chawla). And the situation becomes even more desperate when Ram Jaane takes on a criminal gang that's threatening Murli's group--but does it in a way that Murli entirely disapproves of. Rajiv Mehra directs this action-packed saga with a feel for the streets and an excellent ear for dialogue.
