A native New Zealander from Maori origins, Kiri Te Kanawa has lit up some impressive world stages with her incredible soprano vocals. Here, she is captured performing for a television special that was shot in the lofty surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall in London. Originally broadcast in 1986, Te Kanawa works through a dizzying array of works, including Handel's "Overture from EURYANTHE, Bellini's "Air Des Bijoux" from FAUST, Mozart's "Lascia ch'io Pianga" from RINALDO, and many others.
