Sangre En El Barrio (1952) Poster
Blockbuster: Buy or Rent Online
Influenced by the authenticity and social consciousness of Italian Neo-Realism, SANGRE EN EL BARRIO is about exploitation and class in the slums of Mexico City. A wealthy landowner seeks to demolish the apartment buildings he owns in order to replace them with new and more profitable homes. In order to do so, however, he must evict the poor inhabitants who currently pay him rent. Those destitute workers, struggling merely to survive daily, must now cope with the impending loss of their homes as well, and react with indignation and anger. Antonio Badú, who specialized in playing working class roles, and his wife Esther Fernández, one of the leading actresses of the time, star.
