John Mitchie plays a priest whose life is plagued with conflicts between his religion, his ideals, and his desires in this drama of ethics based on a novel by Piers Paul Read (ALIVE). Monk Dawson's spiritual resolve is put to the test when he meets a young single mother (Rhona Mitra, HOLLOW MAN), and is tempted by her teenage daughter, and a beautiful widow (Paula Hamilton) who further challenges his fortitude. After he publishes an article expressing some unorthodox beliefs in a magazine, he is expelled from the Church and finds work as a sleazy newspaper editor, reuniting him with a figure from his past.
