Italian director Mario Camerini directs Gina Lollobrigida and Gino Cervi in this tale of a poor 18th Century musician who hires a local beauty to impersonate his wife. In order to attract investors, specifically a local rich count, he believes that a woman with good looks will help separate the wealthy man from his money. This story became the plot of the 1964 Billy Wilder film called "Kiss Me, Stupid!"
