In the first feature film produced within the Palestinian West Bank "Green Line," Michel Khleifi's FERTILE MEMORY combines documentary and narrative elements to examine the lives of Palestinian women living in a conflicted culture. Romia works in an Israeli factory and continually fights Israeli authorities for the rights to her family land. Sahar works as a novelist, and finds a struggle in her life as a young, divorced mother. Through the experiences of these women, the film finds the voice of Palestinian women, caught in a predominantly masculine political conflict.
