Austen's 1813 comedy-of-manners is transposed to a contemporary American College town where Elizabeth Bennet is a student, and bookstore clerk with dreams of becoming a famous novelist. The four Bennet sisters from the book, have been turned into Elizabeth's housemates: sultry Argentinian Jane; perpetually squabbling Lydia and Kitty; and the fatally shy and awkward Mary.
