In the aftermath of the Apartheid struggle, many South Africans simply fell through society's cracks. An unlikely friendship forms between two such outcasts: Wonderboy, a glue-sniffing kid living on the unforgiving streets of Johannesburg, and Kobus, a decorated Afrikaner ex-soldier, now directionless and unemployed. Their paths cross when Wonderboy, running from crack dealers, uses Kobus's van as his getaway vehicle. Estranged from his daughter and ex-wife, Kobus has taken a traveling salesman job. Kobus is headed to Cape Town and Wonderboy needs to get to Table Mountain to reunite with his mother. Unsurprisingly, when a "BossMan" and a "Kiffir" boy meet, ties do not bind easily. Kobus tries to lose Wonderboy on many occasions - but the latter's street smarts and Kobus's nascent paternal instincts ultimately make their ties stronger than either has previously experienced.
