Thanks to an unknown informant, Nick Vincent is arrested and incarcerated on several counts of armed robbery. Vincent's accomplice, Manny Breen remains a fugitive. Eight years later, Nick is released from a New York prison and moves to Los Angeles to live with ex-girlfriend Maria DeRazio and her eight-year-old daughter, Ally. Though Maria is still fighting with her ex-husband, police officer Manny Breen, she agrees to help Nick out. But when reports of recent thefts trigger police surveillance on ex-con Harry Koslow, the owner of the apartment complex where Maria resides, police come to suspect a possible partnership with Nick and Manny decides that he might want a piece of the action for himself.
