Based on a story by Cornell Woolrich (REAR WINDOW), I MARRIED A DEAD MAN is a gripping psychological thriller that explores our notions of identity and loss. In it, a poor young pregnant woman named Helene (Baye) strikes up a friendship on a train with a wealthy young couple, Patricia and Bertrand, who are on their way to visit Bertrand's parents. Unfortunately, a horrible accident on the train kills the young couple, and some bizarre circumstances cause Helene to be confused for Patricia by Bertrand's parents. Realizing that going along with the charade will provide security for her and her baby, Helene assumes Patricia's identity. However, it is not long before someone who knows Helene's true identity slowly makes themselves known, causing Helene to panic and fear that the comfortable life she has assumed could be taken away as quickly as it arrived.
