Alain Berliner directs this absurdist comedy, part of the 2000 SEEN BY... series, wherein eight directors were asked to film their visions of the dawn of the new millennium. Taking place in Belgium, where there is a serious division between the nation's Flemish speaking population (Flemings) and its French speaking population (Wallonians), the film begins on December 31, 2000, when a young Wallonian man who operates a French fry wagon takes a beautiful Flemish girl to a New Year's Eve party. When the pair wakes up, a wall has been built that divides the country into Wallonian and Flemish territory, and it runs right down the middle of his French fry wagon. In danger of being caught by Flemish authority, he must find a way around the wall, which seems to allow love to pass through.
